About Write Sparks
igniting the imaginations of young writers
Write Sparks was established in January 2018 with the aim of inspiring and supporting young writers. Through our creative writing clubs, special events and support for schools, we hope to encourage young people to love to write. There has been a great deal of energy, quite rightly, placed on ‘Reading for Pleasure’ in recent years. We would love to inspire more young people to find pleasure in writing too, both in and outside of school.

“In over ten years of working in Primary Schools, I have been a class teacher, lead for ‘Raising Achievement in Writing’ and Head of English. Every graded observation of my career has been ‘outstanding’ and I have developed a reputation for innovative practice. For two years, I wrote a termly column in Teach Magazine and in 2016 my blog was ranked one of the top ten education blogs in the UK. I devour children’s books and I am a judge for BBC Radio 2’s ‘500 Words’ national story writing competition for young writers, in association with Oxford University Press.”
