About Write Sparks

Igniting the Imaginations of Young Writers

Write Sparks was established in January 2018 with the aim of inspiring and supporting young writers. Through our creative writing clubs, special events and support for schools, we hope to encourage young people to love to write. There has been a great deal of energy, quite rightly, placed on ‘Reading for Pleasure’ in recent years. We would love to inspire more young people to find pleasure in writing too, both in and outside of school.

Sarah Parrott BA (Hons) PGCE (M) QTS

In over ten years of working in Primary Schools, I have been a class teacher, lead for ‘Raising Achievement in Writing’ and Head of English. Every graded observation of my career has been ‘outstanding’ and I have developed a reputation for innovative practice. For two years, I wrote a termly column in Teach Magazine and in 2016 my blog was ranked one of the top ten education blogs in the UK. I devour children’s books and I am a judge for BBC Radio 2’s ‘500 Words’ national story writing competition for young writers, in association with Oxford University Press.

Services for Schools

• Leading phase/ staff meetings
• Action planning in response to data

Liz Bennett, St. Anthony's RC Primary School

English Lead and Year 6 Teacher

"The enthusiasm and passion that Write Sparks have shown to empower our children to produce writing of a very high standard is phenomenal. The planning Write Sparks provided for our school equipped our teachers with bespoke lessons that catered for the needs of their class.
Write Sparks have supported our teaching staff to ensure that they had a thorough knowledge of the Framework, and this has proven invaluable in moderation. We have also called upon Write Sparks to carry out some 'in-house' moderation and again this has proven to be a very worthwhile exercise.
I can honestly say that through the mentoring, coaching and teaching sequences that Write Sparks have provided, our children's outcomes in Writing have been greatly improved."

Writing Feedback

Do you want to improve a special piece of writing? Have you been working on a story and need some feedback? Struggling with an ending to your article?
With years of experience as a teacher and writer, I can offer you detailed feedback on your writing. I can show you how to improve your piece; I’ll help to develop your ideas and highlight areas of grammar or sentence structure that need fixing.
This service is available for writers up to 16 years of age and for pieces of writing up to 1000 words long. If you are older, or your piece of writing is longer than 1000 words, please email me first to check whether I can accommodate your request and to offer you a quotation.
How does it work?
  • Contact me to arrange payment of the £15 fee.
  • Email me your writing at
  • You will receive your feedback, to the email address you used to send the writing, within 7 working days.
